It's not hard to be an ally at work. While being an ally can sound uncomfortable, it takes a few small actions every week to build your allyship and build someone else up at work.

First, you need to understand your privilege and use it to help others

  • Are you in rooms that others aren't? Invite them.

  • Do you know people that others don't? Introduce them?

Next, educate yourself.

  • Talk to people who aren't like you.

  • Listen to podcasts outside your current realm.

  • Read a new article.

  • Take some trainings.

Lastly, ensure all voices are heard. Ask for someone's thoughts and opinions, especially if there's a pattern of them being left out of the conversation.
